Dan Berry – May 10, 2022
Hey friends.
For the last 30 years I have chased a dream God put in my heart about bridging divides that have plagued our country, communities, and churches. This dream brought a lot of people together from all walks of life. We found ourselves in an ethnically and culturally diverse family. There was a lot of love going around, but the problem was that just because we were together, it didn’t mean that we understood each other’s unique experiences nor how to talk to each other.
I know that sounds crazy, but it was our reality. And then when racist events happened, it manifested right before us. We realized that we understood very little about each other. Because we stood face to face, now our trauma, ignorance and insecurities fell out on the floor in front of each other. Even though we loved each other, we realized that something was still wrong, and we needed help – I like to say solutions. If we really love each other, we can no longer ignore the fact that we need solutions to help us move more into each other’s lives.
So, I am inviting you to dive deeper into the learning platform at Brownicity.com. There are so many incredible opportunities to continue your education. I realize that some of you are probably already doing that, so let’s help Brownicity get the word out.
There are still too many people who feel stuck. They want to help but just don’t know how to start or how to take their first steps. As we learn how to take our first steps, let’s make sure we bring others along.

Dan Berry is the author of Navigating Diversity In Our Most Segregated Hour, a Certified Instructor for the What LIES Between Us and What Does It Mean to Be White courses, and advises individuals and organizations on how to take first steps toward racial healing.
He has pastored for forty years in Iowa. After pastoring in predominantly white spaces for several years, he began to realize the need to bring about racial healing in the body of Christ. For the last 30 years he has worked to bridge ethnic and cultural divides, a work that has led him into confronting the churches complicity in upholding systems of racism.

Dan is offering 2 courses this month!
Dr. Lucretia Berry’s foundation building course, What Lies Between Us via ZOOM for five consecutive Tuesdays, May 17th thru June 14, 7-8:30PM CT (8ET/6MT/5PT). Watch this video to learn more.
This course and guide are for those stirred toward racial healing, but don’t know where to begin. Historically, conversations about race/ism have been treacherous waters to navigate, and the ‘colorblind’ approach has robbed us of any ability to engage in informed problem solving.
You will be equipped with a historical, political, and social context for understanding race/ism and how it is sustained. The content will allow you to build a sound knowledge base and develop a perspective beyond popular discourse & uninformed opinions. Finally, What Lies Between Us will help us take our first steps towards fostering racial healing.
Dan will also teach Dr. Rev. Benjamin Boswell’s course, What Does It Mean to be White for people who are racialized as ‘white’ to confront whiteness through the writings and films of Black authors, intellectuals, and creatives in a small group circle of trust with practices of meditation and mindfulness.
Contact Dan if you are interested in this 9-week course that will be offered via ZOOM, Thursdays: May 12, 19, 26, June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, July 7 at 7:00 pm CT.
